Budapest International Circus Festival

In 2012 Budapest hosts the International Circus Festival at the city's Capital Circus. The event comes around only once every two years, making it a huge draw for big enthusiasts.

This festival offers the rare chance to see some of the most outstanding circus artists from all around the world under one canvas.

The exciting range of acts will be competing in front of an international jury made up of famous representatives of the profession.

Budapest Spring Festival

The Budapest Spring Festival is the city's largest annual cultural event, with programme including orchestral and chamber concerts, jazz, contemporary dance, film screenings and much more. Best Hungarian and international performers descend on the venues throughout the city.

With 2011 the bicentenary of one of Hungary's most famous musical sons, Ferenc Liszt, there is a performance of his oratorio Christus (29 March). Bartók and Kodaly are also celebrated, on the anniversary of the former's birth, with Zoltán Kocsis conducting his Hungarian National Philharmonic (25 March).

The Italians are also coming: Zubin Mehta bringing his Maggio Musicale Fiorentino will close the festival on 3 April, before which there are many other performances of Verdi, Donizetti and Vivaldi.

Titanic Film Festival

The Titanic Film Festival is an annual event in Budapest. Feature films and documentaries are screened at centrally located cinemas. The festival also provides local video and TV directors with a platform for display of their talents.

Recurring annual themes include the likes of Elements of Crime, Documentaries and World Cinema, while the Titanic Film Festival Special Features section usually includes one French film.

Jazztavasz
Date: May 2012 (annual)
Place: Palace of Arts
Time: 7:30pm
Jazztavasz (literally "Jazz Spring") hosts international jazz stars at the venues of the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall and the Festival Theatre.

In 2012 Jazztavasz opens with a concert by Diana Reeves and closes with the Harcsa Veronika Quartet, both at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall with many other concerts during the festival.
Hey, June! Festival

The Hey, June! Festival is hosted by the Palace of Arts. The programme features anything from heavy metal to soul and funk in an eclectic mix of sounds to welcome in the Summer.
